The most often cited myth concerning synthetic oil is that it will wear down the seals in your engine and cause leaks. That just isn't true.. However, synthetic oils have come a long way since the early 1970s, and they're much nicer to delicate seals. But while synthetic oil won't create a leak, it will find one.
Myth #3: Synthetic engine oils can wear down seals in an engine and cause leaks.. In fact, if your seals and gaskets are in good condition, synthetic oil will not leak in your engine.
I have always used Castrol 10w30 GTX, but was thinking of switching to a synthetic blend. I have heard that this will cause oil leaks. Is this true?
